Welcome to the ORIGINAL Independent Kyokushin Union.
The IKU is in affiliation with The KSK union, Kyokushin Schools of Karate Worldwide.
We was established in 1998, has one of the first Independent Kyokushin unions un-affiliated to Japan..
Since then we have grown with the help of our members around the globe, in 2012 we then decide the world did not need another same old kyokushin union so we esablished a new approch for kyokushinkai members the IKU.
This means we are not a union lots of rules and regulations or have a large constitution or a committee, we are soley a union for any kyokushinkai Instructor, dojo or a group of to join.
This union gives you the ability to become independent, and help cut out the high union payment membership costs by not sending your money off to an overseas Honbu, Its your dojo so keep it yours and retain your own fees.
I myself decided to move to an Independent kyokushinkai dojo, many years ago and nothing changed for me, apart from two main things....
COSTS and FEES !
I still attened many kyokushinkai events in the UK or around the globe, my students still have gained top championship titles in K1 and Kyokushinkai. I still attened Summer camps, has all Kyokushinkai organisations are now becoming wise, to other organisations and most events are now OPEN...
Why is this good for me, my dojo and students? coz its still me has there Instructor.
My dojo still gets visitors from many kyokshinkai organisations and most of all I noticed students joined Kyokushinkai coz of me being the Instructor and not the organisation I was in......
The bottom line is students don't give care about the organisation, its the Martial Art Kyokushinkai they wish to do... So train them and STOP paying out MONEY MONEY MONEY, Put it back into your own dojo and just do what you do best TEACH Kyokushinkai...........
The IKU is the a Union that issues Dan certificates, ID cards, Badges, Passport books and registers you and your group has a Bonifide Kyokushin Group Worldwide.
The KSK (Kyokushin Schools of Karate) is our trade name not Union, it's the KSK that unites all our membeship groups together under one roof and helps unite us has a strong union bond of gathering.
The KSK has been established for over 17 years; we work on a no politics policy and allow the freedom for all our members to grow the way they wish too.
We don't use a single syllabus or demand the regular Kyokushinkai belt colours.
We allow are members to use their own kata's providing they are teaching 70% kyokushinkai and Kihon's.
We ask that each Instructor teaches the kyokushinkai dojo kun and follow the full elements of kyokushinkai has of Sosai Mas Oyama.
The KSK is like no other Kyokushin organisation, we are their for memberships for all types of kyokushinkai groups or spliter groups.
If its a Organisation like the IKO's you are looking for we are for you. we have totaly riped up the old kyokushinkai rule book and gave you the chance to become your own boss. without the high costs.
We evan alow you to remain a member of another kyokushinkai organisation.
Unlike the IKO's we bring together these groups under one roof to give them a home evan if they are a kyokushinkai spin off organisation, we are a union to bond all types together regardles of where they gained there Kyokushinkai grades.
We abolished the large main Committee in 2012 so we only have a small committee, for rules... REMEBER we are a Union of Gathering Pure and Simple........
Our Honbu is open 24 / 7 and we will only contact you for union infomations or notifications.
We have a strict non interference dojo policy, it's your group so you run it your way.
We don't charge a yearly fee on retun's for examinations we are puley to support the groups in membership to help get them back into a kyokushinkai organisation.
All Registered Head Dojo Instructors recive the automatic rank of Branch Chief to allow them to grade there own dojo members upto the right ranking.
If the Dojo Instructor wishes to become a Head Branch Chief this again is free and a min or (3rd Dan - Sandan) is required.
A Head Branch Chief is the Instructor our Kancho will contact to inform them of a new member in that country.
All KSK union committee members including our Kancho are volunteers and work for the love of karate and not for any financial gain.
Our Union Founder is Kancho Darren Murphy which started karate back in 1977 with family members, and moved over with them after the opening of the first BKK Dojo's in East London England, Kancho trained under Bethnal Green BKK Dojo before moving on after many years.
The KSK is open to help Instructors keep there freedom, This is shown on the Yudansha list, Our Kancho is our founder but not the higest ranking member, that's progress.
In the KSK we are about building a kyokushin union and not building our bank accounts, we are run by karatekas and not by money making business men.
Our drive in kyokushin is to give you the support you need and not a stick to beat you down, our members our loyal because we speak the truth and look after them the way they should be, like human beings and not just a number.
